Shane Bannan
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
Shane is head of research at Bligh Capital. His team covers a broad spectrum of sectors with coverage across financial services, media, technology and retail stocks.
A chartered accountant, Shane's career spans over 30 years across accounting, options, futures, stockbroking and institutional research.
Commencing his career in Perth with Arthur Andersen & Co in 1980 he moved into broking where he advised across options, futures and equity markets and undertook research focused on Western Australian based mining and industrial companies.
In 1984, he joined Valder Elmslie in Sydney as an Industrial Analyst for institutional clients. In 1989, he joined Ord Minnet as Head of Industrial Research and subsequently Head of Research, while concurrently undertaking research on the banking sector. After briefly joining AMP to manage the $1.4 billion 'long term' fund, he moved to what is now UBS as Head of Research and subsequently took up the position as an analyst focusing on paper and packaging and diversified industrial sectors. In 1998 he joined Credit Suisse to bring focus to their small cap institutional team.
Prior to Bligh Capital, Shane founded and over eight years managed the small cap institutional research practice at Shaw Stockbroking. His team provided detailed research coverage over 70-80 industrial companies for a select group of institutional fund managers.
Justin Dethridge
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
A founding partner of Bligh Capital, Justin is principally engaged in our corporate advisory practice advising corporates, and private equity firms in relation to acquisitions, divestments and strategic advice, as well as advice on capital raising, capital restructuring, corporate planning, business expansion and improvement.
Justin has spent his career working with entrepreneurial and mid market companies both in Australia and Asia. Over 25 years he has gained experience in sales, management, investment management and corporate advice and he has provided financial and strategic advice to private equity funds and local and international companies. This experience has involved Justin working with companies across a broad range of industries including technology, media, telecommunications, education, retail and healthcare.
Justin's experience includes private equity and corporate advisory assignments across a broad range of sectors, both as a principal of Liquidity Capital and previously as an advisor with corporate advisory firm Lexicon Partners, providing specialist corporate advisory and transaction structuring services, including capital raisings and mergers and acquisitions.
David Ledger
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
A founding partner of Bligh Capital, David has spent the past 24 years in financial markets both domestically and offshore.
He spent 10 years in the United Kingdom working with BZW and ABN Amro selling Australian equities to global institutional fund managers. He was a Director of BZW and Executive Director of ABN Amro where he ran the global sales business of Australian equities for that group until mid-2004. During his time at ABN Amro he directed multiple capital market initiatives coordinating fund raising efforts for the group throughout the world.
He is a Master Stockbroker with the Stockbrokers Association of Australia, a member of the Securities and Investment Authority of the United Kingdom and a Responsible Executive of the Australia Securities Exchange Limited.
Tim Powditch
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
Tim is principally engaged in the equity trading operations of Bligh Securities.
Tim has more than 25 years experience in financial markets as a financial journalist, fund manager and stockbroker working with Australian Consolidated Press, ANZ McCaughan (London), ABS White, BNP Paribas, Citigroup and Shaw Stockbroking.
In the past seven years he has concentrated on equity sales specialising in emerging companies in Australia, continuing his extensive relationship with listed Australian companies, participating in numerous capital raisings and dealing exclusively with institutional investors.
Adam Weir
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
Adam is a founding partner of Bligh Capital and is principally engaged in the equity trading operations of Bligh Securities.
Adam has originated and advised on more than 50 primary offerings with aggregated capital raised exceeding $500 million. Adam has more than 20 years stock-broking experience with global investment banks BZW, Prudential Bache, Bankers Trust and ABN Amro; and has extensive experience in advising international investors on the Australian stock market.
Prudential Bache was an active originator of deals in the technology and media sector, specialising in emerging growth companies. Adam, as head of institutional equity sales, worked closely with the equity capital markets division in pricing and distribution. In 1998, Adam established a venture capital business called Equity Capital Networks targeting start up software and Internet technology companies who were looking for seed investors. ECN looked to match up investor profiles with projects.
Adam holds strong relationships with many domestic and international institutional and sophisticated investors as well as an extensive corporate network.
Simon Schudmak
Partner, Bligh Capital Pty Ltd
Simon joined Bligh Capital as a partner in May 2011 and is a member of our Corporate Finance team.
He was previously an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs where he spent seven years on the Sales Trading and Derivatives desks. During this time he worked in their Sydney and Hong Kong offices where he traded the Australian and Asia ex-Japan markets, covering many of the firm’s key domestic and offshore Hedge Fund clients. Most recently Simon has been involved in seeding and advising start-up and early stage businesses in the IT, Finance and Bio-tech industries.
Simon has a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and is a Fellow of FINSIA.
